Miss Ruthamma was totally blind when she was brought to us by a Christian priest in 1998. She was 18 years old then and had never been to school before. She could only speak Telugu and a smattering of Tamil. Today, Ruthamma speaks Kannada, Hindi, Sanskrit, English and Japanese. Besides being computer literate, she practices yoga, possesses a yellow belt in Karate and sings beautifully. Ruthamma is a group leader in charge of 25 students and is now getting ready for her BA exams.

Miss Sharada was brought to our school by an Eenadu correspondent from the borders of Andhra Pradesh. She was blind, 13 years old and had never been to school either. Sharada is now in the 12^th grade. Thanks to the uncompromising commitment of her teachers, she now speaks English and Japanese, has a yellow belt in Karate, teaches yoga and chants bhajans effortlessly. She loves using a computer and has dreams to become a software engineer.

Mr Narashimha Reddy was 25 years old when he came to us after being at home for 11 years. He had become a mental patient after he lost his sight. Today, he has passed his SSLC(first class) and is now doing his MA. Thanks to the love and attention of Rakum, he doesn't have to undergo mental therapy at NIMHANS anymore. Besides practicing Karate and yoga, Narashimha also acts in epic Sanskrit plays and speaks Japanese and German. He too wants to become a software professional after his post graduation.

SB Veena Kumari joined us the day we started the school. She lost her eye-sight while she was in her 6^th grade at her native Madikeri and was forced to sit at home for 13 years. She came to us when she heard about the Rakum Schools in the Coorg dailies. Since joining us, Veena has passed her SSLC(first class) and is the first student to pass her MA last year. She now works for the Rakum organization as a Girls Hostel Warden and Supreme Leader of the School. She is a brown belt in the kyokushin style of Karate and a yoga expert who holds classes for youngsters in the school. She does 108 Surya Namaskars before starting every one of her days. Her visual impairment has not stopped her from controlling all departments of the school and heads teachers' meetings. A very good cook, she is lovingly called "Veena Akka" by all the students.

Miss Padma Padma secured her Post-graduation in Political Science  through us. At present she is the  Headmistress of our Pre-primary School, Arkavathy Layout Bangalore. She is a Brown Belt in Kyokushin  Karate besides being a Yoga teacher & a sweet singer                                                         Padma came to our fold after completing her SSLC through Davanagere Blind School .She is the second student to become a teacher & the Headmistress of our Pre-primary School. She is visiting Professor for Acharya Sri Rakum Higher Education,teaching Degree & Post-graduate classes.She is managimg our Arkavathy Layout School with the help of her all women team.Padma wishes to  get matrimonial alliance with a sighted,intelligent,jovial boy, who should know the art of cooking & also jump n dance to her tune.  

Miss Roopa Inspite of her total blindness & zero educational background.She is now serving as the Hostel Warden at Arkavathy Lsyout. She practices Yoga, Karate & fiddles with computers. Marriage proposals  are welcome.

Mrs Vinitha VasuVinitha was the first Supreme Leader of our School .She succsessfully completed her MA Degree in Political Science from our Institution. She got married to Mr Vasu a builder & is blessed with a son. Vinitha visits her alma mater  regularly.She has been blessed with a caring husband, who loves social service & his wife's school also. He helped us in completing the High school & Hostel building at Devanahalli in record time of 40 days.Mr Vasu articulates: "It's all because of love for my wife who graduated from this institution.

   Mrs Deepa Deepa's marriage was celebrated inside our School campus, & it was the first wedding of our Institution.She joined us at her 14 and was with us till  20. She is a good  dancer,  an efficient non-veg cook& is very smart in dressing up. She was the  Women's knock-down champion of our schools Yoga expert, very loving & talkative. She is now blessed with a affectionate husband & a daughter. Deepa visits us every month.In fact our Institution  is like her mother's home.                                                                                                                  

Mrs Sowmya Is a very intelligent girl is married to a businessman & is blessed with a daughter.After marriage never visited us. Also she doesn't want to keep in touch with us as, possibly because her in-laws don't like it. Nevertheless we are happy that Soumya is settled in her life &   we got totally involved in organising & financially funding the wedding expenses.

The following children have just completed their Final MA in Sociology. Presently they are interned at various Departments of our Institution
